Anytime a foreign leader is trying to push for such an idea to have the AU or any other continental representation of Africa at the G20 or the UN, it surely comes with this leader waiting something in return. While I'm not naive to believe you can progress without to make any compromise, here I don't see any real interest towards the G20 except to have someone to sit and look other countries in the G20 to keep doing what they have been doing before. I mean isn't there South Africa in the G20? Can someone explains all of us all the dramatical and positive changes it has brought to the continent?

As well, so far the main integration in Africa is regional instead of continental, so why should we have someone to speak in the name of all African countries. Allow me to remind some people few things. The UN Security Council Resolution 1973 who allowed the invasion of Libya was voted during the presence of non-permanent members from Africa. There were Gabon, South Africa, and Nigeria. Do you know what they voted? All of them voted YES! 5 countries out of the 15 countries abstained. The 10 others voted in favour of the invasion, our 3 African countries included. In 2012, Rwanda was chosen to join the UNSC for 2 years as a non-permanent member. In 2013, the General Jean Bosco Kazura was named to lead the MINUSMA, while the overwhelming majority of troops were Western African + Chadian and while Rwanda didn't have a single group deployed there. So you will excuse me but this kind of idea to have someone to represent the whole continent and its interests at the G20 or the UN or wherever else is a false good idea for now. If I'm not wrong at the G20 in addition of the EU with one representative you also have Germany and France. And I think Italy or Spain. It seems even the leading countries of the EU aren't crazy enough to let any other EU country to decide for them. Guess why...

Finally, if Modi is willing so much to help Africa and African he could also propose something against anti-African racism in India. That would be a good start.

Imo, as a misinformed westerner from a tiny country at the bottom of the south pacific, urr wouldn't it be better to have multiple nations instead of one African union? The continent is too culturally and politically diverse to act as a whole representative, plus that's like 100 million people for 1 seat, in many diverging countries.
